Faced with strange problems booting from SD cards. I have 2 Nanopi computers: M4 and R6S, reproducing on both the same way. I've probably tried all the available images on the official Google Drive for both boards, none of them seems to boot from the SD card. I've tried both image versions - for bo...

Is there a HOWTO anywhere for moving the root partition to the SSD under Debian? I have flashed Debian (rk3588-eflasher-debian-bullseye-minimal-6.1-arm64-20240131.img) to the eMMC. I have used dd to copy the root partition from the eMMC to the SSD. What changes do I need to make so that at startup ...
I also was interested in knowing how mainline support for the 3588 in kernel 6.8+ affects these boards - I'd love to be able to install debian with a mainline kernel on my CM3588 NAS board... For Debian you will need to wait another year, but you can try Armbian https://www.armbian.com/nanopct6/ Ai...
Hi, I just ordered a NanoPi R5C. Before I get it and start using it, I would like to ask some basic questions. Hope someone can help. 1. I plan to use it for NAS employing OMV. First I would like to boot up it with Debian Bull's Eye. Is it sufficient to flash a micro SD card with the proper Debian ...

I'm quite confused... I was planning to build a small entertainment centre in my living room and thought I'd replace my traditional PC with a mini PC, but on OpenWrt forum some guy said OpenWrt doesn't support video playback. So I can't play videos on the mentioned devices?

Armbian should do this.
Hi, there is an important bug in the Debian desktop image : if the pi user auto-login defined into /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf is commented, the T6 refuses to boot (why doesn't lightdm start and display its login screen ?), which means a re-installation. The cursor is blinking on the top left of the ...

Hmm, I fear the bug is still in there, as /etc/shadow in the rootfs.img inside the update zip reads the exact same in both versions (20230403 and 20230412): pi:$y$j9T$YahBBPemufqBj5TesGLmv0$hWqDF5P8WFTddHxtr4t409lxDtbTtSOKKdIOiSzeN96:19397:0:99999:7::: So it looks like rk3588-usb-debian-bullseye-co...

go to armbian-config -> system -> hardware and enable all usb ports.
It has built in 8GB that boots from it does see the SD card and will boot from that. I got a USB SSD reader and put a image on it but it just boots from the built in 8GB then and when it boots from there a fdisk -l still don't see the SSD. I guess it's like the SD cards they say tested with it that...

Hi. Can you please detail what I should look for? Regarding the device tree overlays, I don't think any modification is needed because I can access the UART ports from /dev/ttys*. And the libraries suggested do not contain any support for UART in Python. Sorry, I am not working or using UARTS on su...

This is the only hw specific function that might not work, but it works. Everything else is classes better, LVM must work. If not, rebuilding is easy.

5V relays can be triggered with 3.3V without a problem. I am using those https://amzn.to/32qoLMk
Thanks for your reply @igorp Wow, that project is impressive! Lots of relays. Will watch the video later. Video is very short - just showing relays in action and the code for driving this is few lines of bash, no library whatsoever. It's usage is to power cycle single board computers that are under...

Hi, I have searched a bit but could not find any information on USB booting. Is it possible, for an R4S? @igorp Your comments are confusing me. I am trying hard to explain you where you are, but I can't really do much. You suggested armbian would be a better OS for better community support. I heard you and pointed out the issue I ran into with armbian. I am not saying its without issues, but if you wa...
You recommended armbian because, as you said "You can simply use Armbian which is better than Ubuntu in just about any case. And it has active community support, the most important part, which Ubuntu will never have." It's just a recommendation, a hint that can save you a lot of time. I'm...
