Hi Pavel, thank you for the hint... I just tried your method on the newest: rk3399-eflasher-friendlycore-bionic-4.4-arm64-20181219.img but got stuck when installing ubuntu-mate-desktop.... Also apparently they fixed the buggy hostapd so I did your procedure anyway but maybe it is not needed anymore....
