Change/disable Android boot animation

Hello,
how can the Android boot animation be disabled or changed?
I am not refering to the bootloader-bitmap (which I was able to change).
I am refering to the "Friendly Arm" animation after the bootloader-bitmap and before the Android UI.
The best solution would be if the bootloader-bitmap would persist until the Android UI has finished initializing.
