Ubuntu Core 16

Are there plans to make a Ubuntu Core 16 image for the NanoPi NEO? I understand it was just released and wouldn't expect an image so soon but I am curious about the future. The current image (15.10) appears to be a "non-snappy" version of Core. If a new image is under development, will it include support for snaps?

The new NEO rom has ubuntu core from 15.10 upgrade to 16.04, also supports the main line Linux4.10.y
