NanoPi M3 wiki issues on build

Hi,

Trying to follow the NanoPi M3 wiki in order to rebuild the Android and Linux images.

There are some clearly identified problems in the wiki build description

1. the link to download the required files for international users needs to be corrected as per the link given in the T3 forum released firmware images.

2. the reference to sd-fuse_nanopi3.git is giving error as the repository does not exist in github, it needs either to be added there in github or the actual reference to be corrected somehow.

3. the Compile Kernel Modules paragraph, mentions "/opt/FriendlyARM/s5p6818/android" directory but this does exist and wiki does not specify how to create it, thus all references on how to build modules do not work.

So far manage to build the three SD cards (android/debian/qt) with the makeimage PC utility and they do work, yet if someone wants to rebuild from source, either android or linux, most likely that cannot be done based on wiki info.

Hope to see it fixed and us users to be able to build from source soon.

Christos

I can confirm these issues too.

Could I ask about your experience with the Android image? (s5p6818-android-sd4g-20160426.img)

I am experiencing fair amount of lag, stuttering and bugs. Debian seems fine.

I would also like to attempt my own build, so please update wiki FriendlyArm

Regarding the SD media performance on FriendlyARM's provided Adroid build (s5p6818-android-sd4g-20160521.img),
I have seen quite different behaviour based on different SD media brands.

E.g. for an old 4GB class10 Transcent, there was quite a delay in boot and a bit of erratic behaviour within the session, GUI was lagging badly.

When I tried though a new 16GB class10 UHS-I Transcent (30MB/s) it is now very fast, mostly 30sec on bootup, even faster than my Nexus on a cold boot and very fast in GUI performance.

Also tested a 16GB class10 UHS-I Sandisk Ultra (80MB/s) but for some reason it could not start up properly, stopping at initial LCD boot screen I guess there has to be some power supply issue there or something else regarding this specific type of SD.

For Debian, tested a OEM 16GB class10 (20MB/s) and performance is very good, GUI fast and snap, yet boot time is more than a min due to linux boot sequence probably.

Interesting.

I am using a 64GB Kingston Class 10 (http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/sdc10_en.pdf)

I'll have look for another SD card and try the Android image that way.

Also, I am getting different results when I am using the dd tool in linux. Android complains that the system partitions is too small to install all system apps. I increased all partitions, however, Android gets stuck on the boot logo.

Hopefully friendlyarm will fix these issues soon, the benchmark results are very impressive! (Geekbench 3: Multi core - 3601, single core 657)

Jut bought the Ultimate and Premium versions. I can confirm your finding as well...Android is blazing fast now!

Hi thank you for raising these issues.
We recently updated our wiki for T3.
http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPC-T3

You can refer to T3's instructions and download links for compiling an image. The T3 and M3 share the same image files and instructions.

We will update our M3's Wiki soon
