Hello,

I am new to this world (of NanoPi computers) and to this forum ... but I've been running Ubuntu on my PCs for 12 years.

I've bought a NanoPi K1 Plus and I've downloaded nanopi-k1-plus_friendlycore-xenial_4.14.0_20180511.img.zip.
I've copied the image to an SD card (with Disks application) and I've tried to boot :

only the red led is switched on : no green led

when I plug a HDMI cable and boot, I don't see any thing on screen (no source)

I am probably doing some thing wrong ... but I don't know what.
Any help would be appreciated.

As a side note, I am not sure whether I've posted in the correct forum: do not hesitate to move the post, if necessary.

Did you unzip the .img.zip to .img?
I dont know the App "Disks", but you need either to use the command-line tool "dd" or the GUI-Appl Etcher to "flash" the image to the SD-Card.

On the Wiki-Page isnt much supprt for flashing with Linux

Etcher for Linux (32 or 64Bit) could be downloaded from https://etcher.io/

Indeed, etcher is my friend !
I tried using dd ... but I probably did not pass the correct parameters.

Still etcher is more user friendly (one can see the progression percentage during the process) and dead easy to use.

Thanks for the help ... my NanoPi is ready to rockNroll !

I did not think it was a card problem as I would have expected to see a message from the "Bios" stating the card format was wrong ... I guess I should realise this is not a "standard PC" !

The "BIOS" is on a NanoPi the "u-boot" like on many ARM SBCs - but the u-boot would be loaded from SD-Card/emmc
So when your SD-Card isnt written correctly....then there is no "BIOS" which can display a Message on the Screen
