NANO PI NEO 1.3.1 - unable to boot after reboot command

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

Hi to all.

I have 50 pcs of nano pi neo 1.3.1 with scheduled a reboot command every 6 hours. At reboot the operating system does not start from sdcard, but stopping at "TRY TO BOOT FROM MMC1."

The only way to start the O.S. normally is to disconnect the power supply (turn off and turn on the board).

I tried O.S. ARMBIAN 5.3.0 XENIAL 3.4.113 from nano pi neo 1.2 where the reboot is done without problems.

In nano pi neo 1.3.1 there is a different RAM MEMORY from nano pi neo 1.2.

What could be the problem?

Please see pastebin link to view reboot logs and errors.

And what is the reason for not using Armbian?

Hi Igor :)
I think he already do use armbian on all of the NanoPi Neo, but the newer hardware-revision (1.31) does the reboot in a other way than the hardware revision v1.2

But I dont know why he is using the "old" ARMBIAN 5.3.0 XENIAL 3.4.113 instead of

Armbian_5.35_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113
https://dl.armbian.com/nanopineo/archiv ... 3.4.113.7z
or
Armbian_5.38_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.14:
https://dl.armbian.com/nanopineo/archiv ... 4.14.14.7z
or the nightly
Armbian_5.44.180510_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.40:
https://dl.armbian.com/nanopineo/nightl ... 4.14.40.7z

Maybe a newer version can reboot the v1.31 correctly?
Hi guidol,
thank you for your support.

I try to use
Armbian_5.38_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.14
and
Armbian_5.44.180510_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.40

but the problem of 'TRYING TO BOOT FROM MMC1' on rebooting persists.

Any other suggestions about?

it could be a problem due to the fact that on reboot the CPU frequency brings problems to uboot?

Thanks so much for the support.
Hmmm... I only have a v1.2 and no reboot-problems.
Do you got the problem at all 50 NanoPi Neo?

Is the scheduled restart via a cron/at job?

Do all 50 have the same type of SDcard? Did you check with another type?
How do you power all these Neos?

I would try ONE Neo with another SDcard and a dedicated Power-supply and do "flas" the image to the card with Etcher or USB-IT
Hi guidol,
thank you for your support.

The problem is for all 50 pcs of NANO PI NEO 1.31; "restart or shutdown -r now" is scheduled on cron, but is the same to run it manually.

Nanopi Neo v. 1.31 is powered at:
- 5V
- 2 A / 2,5 A / 3 A (I tried various combinations.)

I tried to use various types of sdcard, for example: SAN DISK ULTRA - 16GB

These problems do not happen with version 1.2 (using same sd-card and power supply).
Hi,

Recently i bought 120 units of nanopi neo 1.31 with Micron Memory (MT41K256M16LY-107:N) instead of Samsung, i having the same problem on reboot sometimes hangs after 6 or 10 reboots, i think this could be related with CONFIG_DRAM_TIMINGS, maybe this code have some issue with this memory model (https://github.com/u-boot/u-boot/blob/e ... dr3_1333.c)
I have same problem
