I2C does not work with Nanopi NEO Core and kernel 4.14

Hello,
in the company where I work, a nanopi Neo Core was purchased. Until a month ago I used the official image of Ubuntu Xenial with Kernel 4.16. Following an unsuccessful system update I decided to reinstall the whole system but I saw that the most recent ubuntu image now uses the kernel to version 4.14. I would first of all to ask the reason for this kernel downgrade. Secondly, I realized that the I2C bus does not work anymore and the following error message appear:
i2c i2c-0: mv64xxx: I2C bus locked, block: 1, time_left: 0
The hardware to which I am connecting the device is formed by a rtc and pull-up resistors and works perfectly with the nanopi M1 plus + Armbian and with the raspberry.
Regards
Marco
