Hi.

I just received my Neo and I would like to attach a small speaker to it so I can get a notification sound. It does not have to be too load and I am wondering if I can connect it straight to the board and if so, what are the wiring connections.

Thanks.

A

you will need to use an amplifier from the lineout to your speakers.
Look for PAM8403 based breakout board, those sell out for 2$ on AliE

Just a quick update - audio out does work fine with the Friendly Arm Linux image, but the Armbian image M1 does not work. It also does not work with an M1 board.

You can connect a small speaker to the pins, but the sound is very soft, I did use a small amp baord from ebay and it sounds great!

If anyone knows how to get it working with Armbian, I would greatly appreciate the instructions.

The Neo so far has been a great board board for me - thank Friendly Arm Team.

Did you have any issue with noise on the speaker output?

You can refer to the follow image to connect a audio:

Then you can use these two commands to test it :
#arecord -D hw:0,0 -f cd test.wav
#aplay test.wav
