NanoPi Neo Air g_ether support

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

Hi, I would like to know if someone was able to use g_ether on the NanoPi Neo Air.
It is very important for me to be able to connect via ethernet to the NanoPi Neo Air using the USB interface (the micro usb port, not using the other usb interfaces on the 2,54mm headers).
I have tried Armbian and the FriendlyARM mainline kernels from the wiki, but neither had g_ether included.
Is there any tutorial/description how to include g_ether into the OS?
Thanks!

It's enabled (NEXT 4.19.y)
https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/m ... nfig#L4798

If something is missing:

OK, thank you for these links. I actually tried 4.19.20, but g_ether did not work. Does it matter if I use bionic or stretch download.
As it was not working on Armbian, I ask in their forum and received as answer that it doesn't work: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/9530-na ... onnection/
If it would be working, I would be very grateful. According to your instructions it should be? What about the FA images?

Well, I haven't tried this function. In case its not working on a modern kernel, then you might need to use legacy kernel with kernel 3.4.y ... https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiair/Ubuntu ... default.7z

Bionic and Stretch both use the same kernel, so this is not relevant. Make sure to unload g_serial module (its enabled by default) because you can't use serial console over usb and ethernet over usb at the same time.

I doubt there is any difference regarding this feature in FA images.
Hi, I have tried the out the old kernel you mentioned. In this case g_ether is also missing according to modproble. Is there a manual way to add g_ether? I did not find g_ether mentioned in the Armbian documentation.

Armbian documentation does not cover all possible kernel related functions. For that you need to refer to kernel documentation or just Google. Perhaps this can help you: https://developer.ridgerun.com/wiki/ind ... networking
