MAC adress

Hi,

On NanoPi-NEO, how is MAC adress defined ?
This adresse seems to be random (no IEEE manufacturer valid), but unique for a board.

Friendlyarm people should answer for the Neo.

Since the M1 is big brother of Neo (I just took Neo micro SD card and used it to boot my new M1 without problems), the answer from M1 might be the same as for the Neo. And the answer for M1 is "its a random number":

The NanoPi M1 by default doesn't have a valid MAC address. If the board connects a network successfully it will automatically generates a random MAC in "/etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0". Users can change it to a self-defined valid one

The file "/etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0" do not exist on NanoPi NEO.
It seems also that MAC adresse do not seek sd card, but seek NanoPi NEO board.

Another idea?

why would they ship a product without a valid mac address, I am not happy to hear this.

You can edit this file to manually set a mac address: /etc/init.d/brcm_patchram_plus
