Sure, this is working.
If you use the IoT-Board, then you have there a Network-Connection and two USB Connections on this board.
The +5V are supplied not over the micro-USB socket of the NanoPi-Duo2 Board.
The +5V are going from the IoT-Board to the two (in/out) 5V Pins of the NanoPi-Duo2 Board.
You should not use the USB-Connection to power your Pi, this is not a good connection if you want to run this device for a long time.
If the RaspBerryPi Users have error during the time they are using this device, then the most failure is the use of a USB-Cable.
So ... a good way is to use the two +5V Pins.
Better ... you solder a cable directly on this +5V pad of the PCB (and from ground of the PCB). This is a valid and good connection to supply this device with power.
