I cut a USB cable to about 3", and soldered the following.

Red wire to pin 1
White Wire to pin 2
Green wire to pin 3
Black wire to pin 12

I have plugged in several different kinds of USB devices from pen drives, Ethernet adapters, audio devices and none of them enumerate. I have used these same devices on your other products with no issues at all.
here is the result on the terminal when I plug one of them in.

[ 123.090138] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -62
[ 123.380119] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -62
[ 123.850255] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -62
[ 124.140157] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -62
[ 124.850113] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 8, error -62
[ 125.450112] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 9, error -62
[ 125.456665] hub 7-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1


I even tried moving the white & green wires to USB2 but had the same results.

Just a wild guess - this couldn't have anything to do with the pullup resistors on D+ or D- to differentiate USB type-1 from USB type-2 devices, could it?

I am not sure I follow. On other devices like RPI, or BBB, where they provide the USB pins, I have wired up the same plug with no problems before. I am doing it the same way here but it's just not working.

Friendly arm, do you have any input to this problem ?

That would be backwards for the B+ & B- per the documents. But regardless I did try that before I posted. When I tried it that way I got nothing at all in the terminal. So this is not the problem But thanks for the suggestion.

That cable has nothing to do with the spare USB pins.

Hi,
You can reference my image, i can use USB WiFi with my NanoPi NEO Air.

Why would you add a wifi when the board has one ?

sorry to intrude... but because it just does not work.
