friendlywrt qos

Hi,
I've been using a nanopi r1 running friendlywrt the last couple of months to vpn everything back through my vpn server using wireguard.
It just works wonderfully.
Only problem is that none of the qos stuff works. The kernel modules for qos seem to not get built.
I'm running an image built per the instructions on the wiki, but I don't think even the prebuilt images actually support qos.
tc qdisc gives an error
root@FriendlyWrt:~# tc qdisc
RTNETLINK answers: Not supported
Dump terminated
Any suggestion on what I need to change in the build environment to include qos support would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
- Mark
