Where does the M1 operating system set 'FriendlyARM' as the hostname. Ubuntu mate.

1. Terminal command:
# hostname <hostname>
2. Edit /etc/hosts

/etc/hosts is blank.

The host name is at /etc/hostname

Can easy edit it doing nano /etc/hostname
