You could try a different OS-Image on you uSD-Card if the NanoPi A64 doenst recognize the OS on the actual uSD-Card:

The CPU doenst get hot - as I did think before and did buy the big heat-sink.
Only a small heat-sink is working for me with the image in the thread above.
Yes - if you connect a USB-TTL-serial-adapter you could see more where the failure is (maybe a bad uSD-Card or using the wrong imager software? Try to use Etcher, USB-IT or win32diskimager)
