Writing an image to eMMC on nanopi-M4 and booting

I have the MicroSD to eMMC adapter and a 32GB eMMC module
I don't know which image to use which image should I chose, eflasher, SD or other
Can I write an image with Etcher on Mac (I don't have Windows).
I have tried several Lubuntu and Friendlydesktop (sd and eflasher) images with no success, the system boots from SD with the SD images but when I boot with eMMC the green light flashes ad infinitum
When I put the USB adaptor and EMMC in a Linux machine, I can see the file system on the eMMC but the system won't boot.

Just treat the emmc like a standard SD card using the SD to emmc adapter. You can use at your on your Mac just fine. I use etcher on my windows Tower and my Mac and the emmc works just fine.

My experience is as follows,
- if I want to install Armbian, I use the eMMC adapter and write to this using etcher (note, the eMMC adaptor goes into a MicroSD to USB adaptor. you can see this on the Friendly Elec Product page for the eMMC adaptor
- If I want to install one of the FriendlyElec OS, I downloed the eFlasher images e.g. rk3399-eflasher-friendlydesktop-bionic-4.4-arm64-20190511.img.zip, I use The Unarchiver to extract the IMG and I use etchter to write that to an SD card, I then put both the SD card and the eMMC in the M4 and boot, after a while you'll get the option to copy the image to the eMMC card, then you remove the SD card and boot directly from eMMC

I hope this puts you on the right track, the thing I had missed was, download the eflasher version, burn to SD card
Of course, Armbian is much faster to do all this cause you're writing directly to the eMMC card directly using the magic little adapter.
