NanoPi M4 SATA HAT Power Question

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

Quick question. Can the SATA HAT power the NanoPi M4 or do you need one power supply for the M4 and a seperate one for the SATA HAT?
Hi, Sata hat powers the M4. I'm using a 5A PSU to enable me to use multiple HDDs.

From WiKi - The output current of the 12V to 5V DC/DC regulator is up to 8A
From personal experience - a 12 volt power supply unit with 5 amps is enough with a margin.

If it is even easier to say - you are using ONE POWER SUPPLY FOR 12 Volt and EVERYTHING.
A related question: does anyone know where I can find info about the polarity of the 12V input jack? i.e. positive on the central pin or the outer shield?
I wouldn't want to fry the board at the first attempt :/
