Nanopi M4 - Install Friendly OS to SSD (SATA HAT)

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

Hiya, I'd like to flash Friendly OS to an SSD on the SATA hat. I'm currently using Friendly OS on EMMC and it boots very well. I just have some SSDs about and they are faster and provide more space.

The version of Chromium also supports hardware acceleration, which I like. Armbian has a utility to move most of Linux onto the SSD and that works with the SATA hat.But I prefer the Friendly OS on this board.

The method may be the same as for the RPi for command line in Raspbian Linux , but it is quite long-winded and liable to not work for this different board.

Anyone done this yet?
I also like the Friendly OS as the onboard bluetooth is properly supported. I also like the functional on/off button that also works on other OS.
The Eflasher utility has some configuration options, but no instructions to redirect the install to SATA. The install can be backed up only.
Hm...

I just read all the posts on this forum. It seems at least four other threads asking to install on NVME/M.2/SATA/USB 3.0 for some months. :(
I also want to do this, perhaps we will have to hack the armbian script which does this:

nand-sata-install

But it isn't for the faint hearted.

Anyone done this ?
What about USB adapter with etcher or using DD and copying everything that way
