How to activate fan on SOM-RK3399

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

I have the SOM-RK3399 dev board and it's working very well so far. The only issue is that the fan on the heat sink isn't spinning. I'm running ARMBIAN 5.85 stable Ubuntu 18.04.2 on the SOM. Is there something in the FA Linux distro that enables the fan?

1st do the update to 5.90 ... there has been some important changes in the kernel. Next, there is a special DTB needed for this SOM.

try adding

Code: Select all

fdtfile=rockchip/rk3399-nanopi4-rev06.dtb

to /boot/armbianEnv.txt and reboot
So this ^ will be needed to get the fan working when running Armbian 5.9 on the Nanopc T4?

Is the fan on all the time when this code gets it going or just when cpu under load?

Thanks.
Didn't make fan come on...
