Hello,
I have problems to my boot my NanoPi M4. I had installed Armbion on the eMMC module and after a kernel change the system did not boot. If I remove the eMMC module I can boot from a freshly flashed sd-card.

So my problem is how can I delete or reflash my eMMC module?

If i boot without the eMMC module, the module would not be detecter attached it to a running system.
If I boot with the eMMC module it didnt boot.

Argh :) ..... Is there no button or hotkey to change the boot order to sd-card with eMMC module installed???

Did you get a reply to this ? I have the MicroSD to eMMC adapter, I don't know which image to use and don't now if I can do it with Etcher on Mac (I don't have Windows). I have tried several Lubuntu and Friendlydesktop (sd and eflasher) images with no success, works with SD but when I boot with eMMC the green light flashes ad infinitum, When I put the USB adaptor and EMMC in a Linux machine, I can see the file system on the eMMC.

this adapter doesn't apply to a RK3399 based board.

This doesn't answer the question and the answer provided is not entirely correct

I confirm that the SD to USB eMMC adapter DOES NOT work with the SD images provided on the Friendly Elec Download site.

HOWEVER, it does work with the Armbian images in the 3rd Rom directory, pictures available upon requests ;-) In fact, I was so impressed with the Armbian distribution that I have ordered a second eMMC module for it.

NOTE: after booting with the eMMC Armbian image you'll see the screen flicker, at this point you remove and replace the hdmi cable and you will get a prompt.

Hiya, I've been using the USB to EMMC adaptor with my PC and SD format utility to start again with the EMMC module. I also messed it up with incorrect updates :-)
Eflasher does not care what is on the EMMC if you use that to install Friendly OS. I think Armbian likes it clean from my vague memory of 20 odd rebuilds.
With the USB adaptor you can get out of it.

P.S. The USB adaptor can also be used in reverse with an OS installed on it and then plugged into the M4. Also works on a Raspberry Pi. The speeds are not registered as fast as a modern SD card, but the access time is very fast. I didn't notice any difference in my simple normal use, but the option exists. Looks a bit Heath Robinson.

Interesting.
I could not get it too boot off the adaptor with FriendlyElec, only with Armbian. But I'm on a Mac.
Interesting that on Windows when you copy the Friendly Elec IMG to the eMMC via the adaptor that it boots...

Thanks for the tip about reverse, I have to try it !!!
