FriendlyWRT - Nanopi r4s lost LAN connection

I installed FriendlyWrt 24.10.0, r28427-6df0e3d02a on to an SD card
Initial setup was fine, and was able to connect to the internet, and devices connected through my wireless APs. Both WAN and LAN lights were working.
I then tried to enable SQM on eth1 interface, and from that point on the LAN port does not appear to be working. I have tried:
in all cases eth1 doesn't seem to be available any longer. Lights on LAN port do not light up when cable connected. Any suggestions of things to try?

- Reflashing the same image
- flashing R4S-Series-FriendlyWrt-23.05.img.gz
- flashing alternative distro
