SOM-RK3399 Devkit add extra codec to i2s0

Hi,
From the datasheet of the SOM-RK3399 I can see that the i2s0 interface is available through the CON8 pin header.
Unfortunately it looks like the i2s0 interface is shared with the on-board codec.
Is it possible to add an extra codec chip to this i2s0 interface (without physically removing the codec chip)?
Do I need to reconfigure the codec chip or the SOC, any help or advice would be appreciated.
