opkg screwed up on rk3328-sd-friendlywrt-5.10-20211029

Hi there,
I've just updated my R2S to 21.02.1 and at the beginning I thought that everything went smoothly.
But when I tried to install more packages I ran into issues I couldn't solve.
Already 'opkg update' gives me an error for every package:
Package ... has no valid architecture, ignoring.
I've played a lot with options to specify / add architectures in /etc/opkg.conf or with commandline options, but everything failed. Also setting 'DISTRIB_ARCH='aarch64_cortex-a53' in /etc/openwrt_release didn't help.
I can install packages with 'Architecture: all' but this doesn't help very much
any help appreciated
