I want to use MT7921 WIFI module.

Hi, I recently bought a nano pi r5s 4GB model. I know that Open WRT can support the MT7921 wifi module, but sadly friendlyWRT does not support it. I tried to update Kernel to match with OpenWRT(15.10.116), I gave up since there are so many conflicts. Is there any easy to use OpenWRT's MT76 drivers? Thanks.

I have been used R5C and met same issue when I updated FriendlyWrt from 2023-12-23 to later one.
This issue was solved by reinstalling 2023-12-23 and then keeping the version of wireless-regdb as 2023-09-01.
But I think it is bothering to install older FriendlyWrt.

How about removing current wireless-regdb and re-installing older version instead?
Older package for R5S/C is found here.

It does not work well.
I had to overwrite /lib/firmware/regulatory.db and /lib/firmware/regulatory.db.p7s with the file which comes from FriendlyWrt 20231223 (I attached in this article).
After the replacement, MT7921 based m.2 WiFi module works fine as 802.11ax 5GHz AP.
I tried with FriendlyWrt 20241112 on NanoPi R5C and Zero2.

FriendlyWrt 2024-11-12 does not work well even after replacing with wireless-regdb_2023-09-01 version from OpenWrt.
In these cases, MT7921 works as 802.11ax AP but only in 2.4GHz.

This procedure is no longer required on FriendlyWrt-24.10-20250228, NanoPi Zero2.
MT7921 works as 802.11ax 5GHz AP after setting country and enable.
