IR Receiver, possible?

Hi I just got a new R6C and admitting only looking at the case I was expecting it to have a IR receiver build in. But in fact it's only a plastic plug.
Now there is a IR module available https://wiki.friendlyelec.com/wiki/index.php/Matrix_-_IR_Receiver but I'm not sure if that fits in the case or can be properly connected to the board and the OS (openwrt or debian) will support it.

Anybody has experience with this?
@snoopair Are you planning to use the IR receiver for media control, smart home, or any specific application on OpenWRT/Debian? I'm curious because I want to understand clearly to discuss more deeply about driver compatibility and configuration on the OS. Incredibox
Yeah, I had the same assumption when I got my R6C—thought that plastic window meant an IR receiver was built-in. Unfortunately, it's just for aesthetics. I did try the Matrix IR Receiver you linked, and while it can technically be wired to the board, it doesn’t fit cleanly in the case without some DIY mods (like trimming or 3D printing a mount). As for software, Debian recognized it pretty easily with the right `lirc` setup, but OpenWRT needed a bit more tinkering with custom kernel modules. If you're comfortable with minor case modding and tweaking config files, it’s doable—but definitely not plug-and-play.
