How do I update Android TV safely?

More that a year ago I bought a NanoPi R6C, attached a 1Tb NVMe drive and installed Android TV to it.
Then I used it with no problem, until I noticed that there is no internal OS update like it usually is in Android devices.
So I guess I have to flash it from USB, but I have a couple questions:
I have downloaded rk3588-eflasher-androidtv-20240613.img,gz, is this OK?
Will it erase my current settings and data? The wiki doesn't make any difference between empty and already working device.
The mask button resembles a reset button.
Why isn't there an internal update function?

Good question. So far every time I've flashed a new image it has been a complete reset, wiping out all of the old data.
Would be nice to be able to preserve the user data next time I need to upgrade.

By the way, I haven't tried that June image you mentioned, but the August 19 image seems to be working pretty well now with Kodi 21.

This is simply awful. Not only I haven't received any notifications for your reply, but you are confirming what I feared, that upgrade wipes everything. This is so stupid, no support at all, nor the slightest interest for the users. What's the point of even existing for such a company?

Did you verify it’s the latest version for the NanoPi R6C?

Can you elaborate? Have you read the thread? It obviously isn't, I asked explicitly if flashing the latest one would overwrite my settings.
(and again I never received a notification of reply despite having
